What is DOL Starter?
The full name of DOL Motor Starter is Direct Online Starter, it is the most commonly used starter.
DOL Starter is used on motors of size below 7.5KW/10 HP. The wiring of this starter is quite simple.
DOL Starter Working- Its working is very easy. In this, we start the motor using a contactor, an overload relay, and a push-button of start-stop.
What is Reverse Forward Starter?
Reverse Forward Starter this starter is also a DOL starter in a way. But where we need to rotate the motor in two directions, we put a reverse forward starter.
Reverse Forward Starter Working- As I told you that it is like a DOL starter. The only difference is that in this we use two contactors.
The first contactor to make the motor rotate in the straight direction, the second to make the motor rotate in the reverse direction.
We also use this starter for motors less than 10HP.
What is a Star Delta Starter?
Star Delta Motor Starter is quite a useful starter. This is the starter used in the big motors. For motors larger than 10 HP, it is recommended to install a star-delta starter.
Why use the star delta motor starter?
Star Delta Starter Working- The main function of this starter is to prevent the big capacity motor from taking more current at the time of starting.
There are three contractors are installed in this starter.
1)STAR Contactor
2)Delta Contactor
3)Main Contactor
The motor does not take much current at the time of starting, for this we do the wiring in this starter in such a way that the Star Contractor is started with our Main Contactor first. Whose work the motor has to run in the star in the beginning.
After some time, we remove the star contactor and put the delta contactor and the motor is driven into the delta connection.
To make a star-delta starter, we need 3 contactors, 1 overload relay, 1 timer, and a push-button to turn on and off.
